Orange Moscow Mule – A fun spin on a classic moscow mule recipe! Made with just a few simple ingredients, this drink is elegant and delicious.
Orange Moscow Mule
Moscow mules are one of those drinks that taste great as is but are even better when you add other flavors to them! After making a few different varieties of moscow mules during the holidays, I wanted to try experimenting some more with adding other fruits and juices to them. I saw a bunch of cara cara oranges at the grocery store and I thought those would be perfect to use in a moscow mule. I love the pop of color that cara cara oranges have but you can totally use any other variety of oranges too such as a navel, blood orange, valencia, etc or just use pre-made orange juice. Either will taste great!
This recipe makes about 1 serving so if you plan on making it for more people, just double or triple it!
Common Questions About Making a Moscow Mule
Are moscow mules made with a non-alcoholic ginger beer?
It depends on whether you want to make a non-alcoholic version or an alcoholic version. For this recipe, I used for a non-alcoholic ginger beer (my favorite is Fever Tree) but it is totally up to you and your preference.
Why does a moscow mule need a copper cup?
A copper cup is a great insulator which really retains how cold the drink is. While it is not necessary, it also looks really cool and makes it obvious which drink you are serving.
Why is it called a moscow mule?
The name “moscow mule” comes from the traditional addition of vodka to the alcoholic version and it’s association with Russia.
What other types of moscow mules can I make?
There are so many great varieties of moscow mules. Some of my favorites include –
- Classic Moscow Mule
- Cranberry Moscow Mule
- Peach Moscow Mule
- Moscow Mule Mocktail
- Gingerbread Moscow Mule
- Apple Cider Moscow Mule
- Grapefruit Moscow Mule
Can I make a moscow mule out of other alcohols?
Yes! Two of the most common variations include an Irish Mule (whiskey instead of vodka) and a Kentucky Mule (bourbon instead of vodka).
