Kentucky Mule – A delicious cocktail made with just bourbon, lime juice, and ginger beer! The perfect cocktail for any party!
Kentucky Mule
If you love moscow mules, then this is the cocktail for you! A Kentucky mule is a spin on a classic moscow mule but with one twist – it’s made with bourbon instead of vodka. Now, this drink is great for parties or just as a fun cocktail to enjoy in the evening. I think the bourbon in it is such a great addition! Past that, I suggest serving it in the classic copper mug with a slice of lime and a sprig of mint but hey, don’t worry too much if you don’t have copper mugs on hand, just use a normal glass!
Common Questions About Making a Kentucky Mule
What is a Kentucky mule?
A Kentucky mule is a cocktail that was made with ginger beer, lime juice, and bourbon. This is a spin on a moscow mule which has the same ingredients but with bourbon instead of vodka.
Are Kentucky mules made with a non-alcoholic ginger beer?
It depends on whether you want to make a non-alcoholic version or an alcoholic version. For this recipe, I used a non-alcoholic ginger beer (my favorites are Fever Tree or Bundaberg) but it is totally up to you and your preference.
Why does a Kentucky mule need a copper cup?
A copper cup is a great insulator that really retains how cold the drink is. While it is not necessary, it also looks really cool and makes it obvious which drink you are serving.
Can I make a Kentucky mule with other alcohols?
Of course! Some of the other popular alcohols to use instead of whiskey include vodka (moscow mule) or whiskey (irish mule).
