Iced Caramel Latte {Starbucks Copycat}
It’s time for another copycat recipe! Now our most popular post this past year has been our Iced Vanilla Latte, a delicious recipe that is super easy to make and so much cheaper than buying it at Starbucks. I have been wanting to make a caramel version for months and I finally got around to it this week and it was amazing. Made with just 3 simple ingredients, this drink is a great way to save money on fancy coffee this summer!
Now this recipe is for an iced latte. Now the thing that you might notice is that the recipe calls for plain old coffee which I did to make it easier for everyone to make. If you have an espresso machine (or an aeropress, moka pot, or another coffee maker that makes coffee closer to espresso), just make 2 shots of espresso, let it cool, and just adjust the milk to taste in the recipe. I’ve done both the coffee and also the espresso option (made with an aeropress) and both have come out great.

How to make an iced caramel latte
Step 1 – Coffee
Pour the coffee into a glass over ice. Make sure it is room temperature or colder, this helps avoid the ice melting immediately. My coffee was still a bit warm when I went to make this for I popped it in the freezer for about 10-12 minutes, checking it fairly regularly to make sure that it had not frozen.
Step 2 – Caramel
Pour caramel syrup into the coffee.
Step 3 – Cream
Add cream to the iced coffee. I used half and half but any creamer or milk will work.
Common questions about making an iced caramel latte
How do you make iced coffee at home?
To make iced coffee at home, you simply have to brew a pot of coffee, let it cool to room temperature or refrigerate it, and then pour it into a cup over ice. I suggest making the coffee a bit stronger than normal since it will be diluted with ice, cream, and flavoring.
Is iced coffee good for you?
You can make any iced coffee recipe better for you by making good choices and substitutions with the ingredients. To make an iced skinny caramel latte, using fat-free milk instead of cream and make your own caramel simple syrup or caramel sauce in order to cut out some of the extra sugar.
Is cold brew iced coffee?
No, cold brew is made by combining water and coffee grounds and letting sit at least overnight. Iced coffee is made by brewing a hot pot of coffee and letting it cool. Because of that, cold brew can be a lot stronger than iced coffee and it tastes better for longer periods of time before getting acidic.
Are iced caramel lattes dairy-free?
This iced caramel latte recipe can be made dairy-free by using a dairy-free milk such as
- Soy
- Almond
- Oat
- Coconut
- Cashew
These will each impact the taste a bit so I usually try to use the most neutral tasting non-dairy milk if going that route (soy).
Are iced caramel lattes vegan?
Iced caramel lattes can be made vegan very easily. With this recipe, use a non-dairy milk (listed above) and make sure to check that the caramel syrup or caramel sauce that you use is vegan since not all are.

Other tips and tricks on this iced caramel latte recipe
- If you have an espresso machine, then you can sub in 2 shots chilled espresso for the coffee in the recipe.
- Love cold brew? You can use it in this recipe for a different spin! HERE is a recipe for cold brew so that you can make it right at home!
- Instead of ice, freeze extra coffee in an ice tray and use it in the iced latte to avoid it getting watered down!
- It is up to you whether you would like to use milk or half-and-half in the recipe. Personally, I am a half-and-half person.
- You can either use caramel sauce or caramel syrup. The difference between the two is that caramel syrup is meant for drinks and it is more liquidy, thus it mixes in a bit easier with the rest of the drink. Caramel sauce is more similar to the kind you drizzle on desserts (like this recipe). It also works but it is harder to mix in. I like to use the caramel syrup in the drink and then add whipped cream and a drizzle of caramel sauce on top to make it a really indulgent treat.
