Toasted White Hot Chocolate {Starbucks Copycat}
I can’t get enough of this toasted white hot chocolate right now! After having it at Starbucks a few months back, I knew I had to try making a version at home because it really couldn’t be that hard… right?Well, it did turn out to be really easy but you do have to plan it out a bit ahead of time before making it as you needed to get the white chocolate caramelized which takes about 40 minutes. It’s not like the caramel iced coffee recipe I have that takes 5 minutes, this one takes closer to 45-50 minutes but trust me, it is well worth it!
How to caramelize white chocolate
Place white chocolate on a lined pan and place in the oven. Cook for 10 minutes at 250 degrees.
Pull white chocolate out of the oven and give it a stir. Place back in the oven and continue to cook for 10 more minutes.
Repeat 2 more times until a nice golden brown.
This recipe makes enough for about 2 servings but it can be scaled up or down easily so that you can make it for a group. Just don’t forget to caramelize enough white chocolate!
An additional thing to mention about this recipe is that I highly suggest using a higher quality white chocolate baking bar (such as Ghiradelli) rather than the white baking chips. The caramelization won’t work as well with other products.
