Pepperoni Pizza Twists

Sometimes the most basic of recipe ideas bear repeating. What do I mean by this? It means I often forget to KISS, you know the old adage Keep It Simple Stupid. Yeah, sometimes simple is best.

Take for instance this delicious and crazy easy to make Pepperoni Pizza Twists. They couldn’t be easier to make, in fact, my kids can make these without much supervision.

But I often forget simple recipe ideas like this until someone gently reminds me, “hey mom, we haven’t made blah blah blah in forever!”. True, I guess we haven’t so let’s do it.

Pepperoni Pizza Twists make a great easy lunch, we are home 99.9% of the time now so lunch options are always welcome. We’ve also made these for a movie night snack. If you have a crowd obviously you will need to make a bunch, so make sure to double or even triple the recipe.

What I also like about easy recipes like Pepperoni Pizza Twists is that they are customizable. Friends, I have fussy kids, that’s no news flash. So recipes like this one where you can omit or add items are perfect for my family.

Finally, another reason I really enjoy this recipe is that it breaks up our pizza routine. One can only eat pizza in a triangular form so many times in a week, am I right? Anyway, hope you enjoy them because we sure do!

What ingredients do you need to make Pepperoni Pizza Twists?

  • Refrigerated Pizza Dough
  • Mozzarella Cheese
  • Pepperoni
  • Butter
  • Garlic Powder
  • Dried Parsley
  • OPTIONAL: Marinara Sauce for dipping

Some tips for making Pepperoni Pizza Twists:

  • I use Wewalka brand refrigerated pizza dough, it’s our favorite. It comes in round and rectangular, make sure you get rectangular.
  • Line the baking pan with parchment paper for easy cleanup.
  • Add additional ingredients, just don’t use too much or the dough won’t twist properly.
  • Sprinkle on some parmesan cheese.
  • Serve with a marinara sauce or RANCH (where are my ranch dressing fans) for dipping.

Simple steps for making Pepperoni Pizza Twists:

Preheat oven to 400° degrees. Line baking pan with parchment paper. Roll the pizza dough into a large rectangle on a cutting surface.

Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella over 1/2 of the rolled out dough. Place pepperoni slices onto mozzarella.

Gently fold the half without cheese and pepperoni over the 1/2 that is covered. Press the edges to seal together.

Cut the dough into 1/2 inch strips. Twist the strips and place 2 inches apart on the prepared pan.

Bake for 12-15 minutes until the dough is golden brown.

In a small bowl combine: melted butter, garlic powder, and dried parsley. Use a pastry brush to gently brush butter mixture over twists. Serve warm with a marinara sauce for dipping if desired.
