Italian Margarita
Margaritas and Lori go way way way back. As long as I can remember as an adult I’ve had a puffy heart love for this amazing cocktail.
All the flavors combined and separate are true favorites. I adore a good tequila in shot form, I adore lime in pretty much any form and all combined in a glass along either Grand Marnier, Triple Sec or a quality sour mix…pure bliss!
If you haven’t noticed I’m on an Amaretto kick. Last Christmas season I decided to make my own Amaretto. I now have a couple of extra bottles on hand and have been using it in all sorts of delicious recipes including this amazing Italian Margarita.
This wonderful cocktail is very smooth to drink. It has the basic components of a traditional margarita with the addition of Amaretto.
The Amaretto brings a wonderful depth of flavor to this beloved cocktail. I truly adore the warm flavor it adds and would happily sip away on one of these while kicking up my feet on the back deck.
I did choose to use silver tequila. Simply for the fact that it has a crisp flavor that blends well with other alcohols or liqueurs.
My advice with sour mix my friends, try to make your own. If that’s not possible I usually use a bit less than what is noted because I don’t like the overly sweet flavor, I’d rather have extra freshly squeezed lime juice instead. Have I mentioned I love limes?
Wondering where the Margarita originated?
Halfway between Tijuana and Rosarito, Mexico at a restaurant named Rancho El Gloria back in 1938.
What does the name Margarita mean?
In Latin, Margaret. In Spanish, Daisy flower.
