Who doesn’t love a little smokie?! This is one of those appetizers that is great for every kind of gathering from football games to holidays. These are brown sugar BBQ little smokies made in a crock pot from the three ingredients in the name – brown sugar, BBQ sauce, and little smokies. You just combine the ingredients in the crock pot and let it do it’s thing. That’s it! I like to serve them with a sprinkle of fresh parsley or green onions but that’s totally optional.

Optional Flavor Add-ins –
- For a spicy appetizer, add 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes or 2 teaspoons hot sauce.
- For honey BBQ little smokies, reduce the light brown sugar to ¼ cup and add ¼ cup honey.
- For a meatier flavor, wrap the little smokies in thin cut bacon and secure them with a toothpick– then cook as directed above.
Ingredient Notes –
- “Little Smokies” are small (approximately 1”) smoked sausages. My favorite are the all-beef smokies but any kind will work in this recipe.
- I’m using Sweet Baby Ray’s Original BBQ sauce but homemade or store bought will work.
- Light or dark brown sugar will work in this recipe– just use what you have on hand.

Ingredients
- 2 (14 ounce) packages little smokies
- 1 cup BBQ sauce
- 1/3 cup light brown sugar
Instructions
- Combine the little smokies, BBQ sauce, brown sugar, and any additional add-ins in a slow cooker set over low heat.
- Cook for 2 hours on LOW, or until warmed through. If the sauce becomes too dry while cooking, feel free to add a small splash of water (about 1/4 cup) -- you don't want the BBQ sauce to burn.
- Serve garnished with fresh parsley or sliced green onion (optional).
- Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to three days.
