Cheeseburger Sliders

I love making sliders. Whether it’s as an appetizer for game day or as a quick and easy meal, I think that they are so fun and tasty. I started making these cheeseburger sliders a while back because I wanted a smaller version of a cheeseburger for a party appetizer and it turned out so great that I’ve made it so many times since. When I make these sliders, I serve them with a homemade garlic ketchup to dip them in that is sweet, tangy, and spicy. Trust me, it tastes great on a slider!

Ingredient Notes –

  • I’m using 80/20 ground beef but you could use a different fat proportion – or make turkey sliders.
  • Salt, garlic powder, and smoked paprika add great flavor that enhances the meatiness of the sliders. If you have a pre-made burger seasoning, you could use 2 1/2 teaspoons of it instead.
  • Worcestershire sauce adds depth of flavor and great umami to the burgers. If you don’t have any, feel free to leave it out or substitute 1 tablespoon of BBQ sauce.
  • I’m using Hawaiian rolls but you could use any slider buns you like.
  • I love cheddar cheese on cheese burgers but you could use any cheese you like – pepperjack, colby, or mild cheddar are all delicious too.
  • Ketchup adds sweetness and acidity to the burgers to cut through all of the fat. I serve the ketchup on the side so people can add as much or as little as they like.
  • Sweet chili sauce adds a bit of heat and additional sweetness to the ketchup. Trust me, it’s delicious.
  • Grating the garlic with a microplane zester helps it incorporate more smoothly into the ketchup. If you don’t have a microplane you can substitute 1 teaspoon of garlic powder.
  • Basil adds unexpected herbaceousness to the ketchup. You could substitute 1 teaspoon fresh minced thyme or 1/2 teaspoon fresh minced rosemary if you prefer.
